(The Star) – “What Mahathir overlooked, or maybe he thought he can be exempted from, is that Umno has a certain culture and tradition and there is no fast-track rise to power, not even for the son of a Prime Minister or ex-Prime Minister.
The leakage of classified information is an act that amounts to treason and puts the nation’s security at risk, says Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.
“It is alarming that not only have confidential information been sold but that some of it have been altered or doctored in the effort to sensationalise the issue.
“The main question would be what else and even more damaging information have also been sold that we are not aware of.
“And this puts the security of the nation at risk and this is nothing short of an act of treason, Salleh said in his blog on Monday.
Salleh said Sarawak Report had boasted numerous times that it was in possession of confidential or “rahsia” (secret) documents that were genuine and original and claimed to have received them from inside sources that were senior people, those of authority and also those who were close to the investigation.
“Some of this so-called leaked information has been proven false such as when the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) admitted that the RM2.6bil might, in fact actually have come from Arab donors after all,” he said.
This has been a huge embarrassment for former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the Anti-Najib Campaign (ANC).
Salleh said the 20-month onslaught against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak by using foreign, local blogs and news agencies to play up the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue to oust Najib without a doubt would have cost a lot of money.
Therefore, he said, this inadvertently raises questions of the rumours that were circulating a year ago on the RM2bil funding that the ANC was armed with and the RM600mil that was set aside to finance the media and the online war.
“For the record this allegation was never denied,” he said.
“Mahathir should accept that his campaign to discredit Najib has failed and that all he has achieved is to ruin the political careers of all those around him,” he said, adding that he only had himself to blame for what happened to his son, the former Kedah mentri besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
Salleh said Dr Mahathir had underestimated Najib by thinking that attacking him with the 1MDB issue would oust him.
“What Mahathir overlooked, or maybe he thought he can be exempted from, is that Umno has a certain culture and tradition and there is no fast-track rise to power, not even for the son of a Prime Minister or ex-Prime Minister.
“Mahathir thought he was bigger than Umno but now he probably realises that the party is always bigger than the individual and that has resulted in Mahathir ruining Mukhriz’s political career,” he said.
Mukhriz was sacked from Umno along with former Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin while former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has quit the party.

Najis's mouth piece got to stop talking instead action should be taken against Sarawak Report and WSJ.
Till today the whole world is waiting for people like Salleh and Najis to sue yet they are not brave enough.
To me when a person is prepare to steal, cheat, murder and lie, one should not be a coward by bribing Bloggers, Religious Council, IGP, AG, MACC, BN and Royal Household to escape punishment.
