IGP: Pastor Koh abduction may be over personal issues
Khalid Abu Bakar reveals three theories being investigated, saying police already have some leads on abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh.GEORGE TOWN: The police are looking at three theories in the investigation into the abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
Khalid said personal issues, extremist link and kidnap-for-ransom case were the three theories being investigated.
On the first one, Khalid said his men plan to take more statements from Koh’s family, to see if it would help ascertain the reason behind his abduction more than three weeks ago.
“I hope the family will tell us whatever they have not told us. Just let us do our job and don’t play private investigator,” he said.
Without elaborating, Khalid said police were also looking at the possibility of links between the abduction and extremist activities.
“The last lead is likely a kidnap-for-ransom group behind Koh’s abduction.
“Let me tell you now, we have some leads. So, just allow us to continue to investigate this. The more the press play this up, the more they are putting the life of the pastor in danger,” Khalid said.
Koh, 62, was abducted by a group of masked men on Jalan SS4B/10, less than 100 metres from the Police Housing Complex, in Kelana Jaya on Feb 13. He was driving a silver Honda Accord bearing the licence plate ST 5515 D.
He was on his way to a friend’s house in Kelana Jaya when he was abducted in what CCTV footage has shown to be a well-executed plan involving more than 10 men and seven vehicles in broad daylight.
His family is offering a reward of RM100,000 for information of his whereabouts.
On Sunday, more than 300 people gathered at a candlelight vigil near the Plaza Masalam in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam, to highlight the lack of information from the police on Koh’s abduction, amid fears that it could be a religiously-motivated crime.
The pastor was at the centre of controversy in 2011 after his NGO, Harapan Komuniti, was accused by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) of proselytising Muslims, following a raid at a thanksgiving and fundraising dinner at the Damansara Utama Methodist Church.
Later he received a death threat in the form of a bullet that was sent to his home, a close friend revealed.

I can predict the legacy of IGP Khalid bullshit in history.
When a government servant earns a couple of millions each month as side income what kind of incentive does his fixed salary of RM25,000 a month has to offer.
IGP Khalid is misusing his position as Head of Police openly and no-one not even the Agong can do anything about it.
What I do know is PDRM is now looking for scapegoat for another drama.
TODAY MALAYSIA IS FULL OF BULLSHIT DRAMA THAT ONLY UMNO AUTHORITIES CAN CREATE SINCE THEIR BRAIN IS ONLY CAPABLE FOR THAT.
