Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak named Asia's worst finance minister 2016
FinanceAsia has named Malaysia's Prime Minister and Finance Minister Najib Razak as the worst finance minister in 2016. He pipped 12 other finance ministers of Asia-Pacific's largest economies for the crown. Last year, Najib came eighth in FinanceAsia's ranking.
The magazine said that 2015 had been a "very challenging year" for the Malaysian economy, having suffered a "double whammy" of a political scandal involving state fund 1Malaysia Development Fund and Najib. It also faced the collapse in the price of its key oil export.
The scandal over 1MDB triggered demands for Najib to step down, raising doubts in the international arena over Malaysia's commitment to good governance, FinanceAsia added. After months of an internal probe, Malaysian authorities said last month that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing by Najib.
"The long-running political crisis has taken up time that could have been better spent addressing the country's acute economic troubles and made Malaysia appear even less attractive as an investment destination," FinanceAsia said. It noted that in the third quarter of 2015, foreign investors pulled out around $5.83bn (£4.04bn, €5.34bn) from the country. The ringgit depreciated by 19% in 2015 - a fall not seen since 1997.
FinanceAsia said: "The main task for Najib will be whether he can manage down the budget deficit of 3.1% of GDP in 2016 from 3.2% in 2015 in the face of a further slowdown in Chinese economic growth and low oil price. Najib's stated aim is to balance the books by 2020, which would be no mean feat for a country that has run a deficit since 1998."
It continued: "How the embattled Najib can improve Malaysia's reputation remains to be seen, but before then he must be ready to figure out a plan to tame the budget deficit while external weaknesses continue to crimp government revenue."
Thailand's Apisak Tantivorawong took the second last 11th spot for the worst finance minister. It noted that Apisak "appears to have limited influence" and that former finance minister Somkid Jatusripitak seems to be leading the government's economic effort with "similar crowd-pleasing tricks".
It said that these moves will drain government funds and are unlikely to leave any lasting economic benefit. "Thailand's economy may grow faster this year but its foundations remain worryingly weak."
The magazine said that the government should focus on getting large-scale infrastructure projects moving, highlighting that Thailand "does not have a positive track record for executing in a timely fashion."

Who is plundering Malaysia’s wealth?
It is not the average struggling Malaysian taxpayer who is stealing the national wealth, saysWandering Malaysian.
A staggering total of US$395bn was siphoned out of Malaysia in illicit financial flows in 2003-2012.
Malaysia has the ignominy of being the top fifth country globally for illicit financial outflows (India nudged Malaysia from 4th to 5th place in 2014). According to the Global Financial Integrity report, Malaysia alone contributes to 6 per cent of the total global illicit flows from all developing countries.
Put another way, for every US$1 of foreign direct investment that Malaysia received in 2012, US$5 was being smuggled out of the country. This is only a conservative estimate as the methodology to estimate the outflows is very rigorous based on reported balance of payments and trade statistics. Close to 20 per cent of Malaysia’s GDP is being stolen and spirited away overseas and kept in safe havens as either cash or invested in assets. While the volumes have been declining since 2010, the question is how can such plunder on a national – nay, international – scale, mostly through deliberate trade misinvoicing, escape the notice of Bank Negara, the Royal Malaysian Customs and the Royal Malaysian Police.
Let us look at another recent revelation through secret Swiss banking files of 30,000 accounts that were leaked last week (the Swiss Leaks). Malaysia is ranked 87th among the countries with the largest dollar amounts stashed away with one notable Malaysian who has squirreled away US$68m. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has named a member of the Pahang royal family. Unfortunately, the ICIJ site does not allow access to country level data which will reveal who the other Malaysian luminaries are who prefer to keep their money in secret accounts in Switzerland rather than in Malaysia.
Given that the top 10 per cent own 40 per cent of the total wealth of Malaysia, we can safely assume that it is not the average struggling Malaysian taxpayer who is stealing the national wealth.
So, which Malaysia-based individuals and firms are well positioned to carry out trade invoice shenanigans? How many of these are either proxies or linked in some form to political parties and networks? How many current or former Malaysian political leaders have interests in these businesses?
How can such a huge amount of money leave Malaysia without the tacit complicity of the authorities?

Scam in Donation
Today every Tom, Dick and Harry are into the business of asking for donation.
I am surprised by the amount given by generous donors beside the famous unknown for my beloved Prime Minister RM2.6 billion to use as he pleases.
When a leader is corrupted, the ones below too are corrupted. This is the truth.
Everyday I meet people who are up to no good.
Today I find woman are the biggest and bravest soul to do that in big scale.
Recently I met one who can talk through her soul getting donation in big figures.
Within two months over RM200,000 was promised and collected.
People whose names were used to collect the donation were given good accommodation and food in return.
If this continues the whole building will be hers for free next year.
It would be wise if donors do a proper investigation cum profiling on the person asking for donation especially in huge figures.
Advice to those wanting to help - WALK AWAY.
THOSE SO-CALLED KIND SOUL HELP THEMSELVES BEFORE OTHERS.

Dictator Najis illicit wealth confiscated by Swiss
ZURICH • Switzerland will implement a new law in July to help seize and repatriate illicit wealth parked in its banks by foreign dictators, the government has said.
This issue was in the news again this week when the Monetary Authority of Singapore ordered the closure of Swiss private bank BSI's operations locally, and Swiss prosecutors began criminal proceedings against BSI in the biggest international crackdown on financial entities dealing with a scandal-hit Malaysian government fund.
The Swiss Cabinet agreed to implement from July 1 a law that lets the authorities seize and return funds that foreign leaders looted, even in cases that cannot be resolved through standard international requests for mutual legal assistance.
Switzerland has tightened money-laundering laws in recent years and requires financial institutions to enforce "know your customer" rules.

How to be a millionaire
Whenever a situation arises, politicians can immediately come up with figures like RM40 millions for retention ponds to curb Kuala Lumpur floods - Ku Nan.
Then someone from Putrajaya will says 'Government will spend RM92 million to improve flood control system.
DBKL spent over RM40 million for flash flood.
River of Life RM4.4 billion.
Smart Tunnel ate up RM3 billions to date to construct and maintain since 2003 till today.
Yet we get flash flood yearly. None of the above actually cost that much.
Specialists to study, survey and do proposal on how to clean and stop flash flood from the source of water from Selangor to Kuala Lumpur cost only RM200,000. Period 6 – 7 months.
Cost to do River of Life plus cleaning and stopping flash flood from Selangor to Kuala Lumpur RM1.2 billion.
Total cost RM1.2 billion RM200,000 only.
So if we add the cost from Ku Nan RM40 million, RM92 million, River of Life RM4.4 billion and RM40 million total is RM4 Billion RM172 million. There is an over-charged of more than RM3.1 Billion that certain people stand to keep.

Again, money transfer out of Malaysia. Business from the building generates around RM25,000 a month. They have since bought a jet, own an island and travel first class monthly overseas. MCA gives them RM100,000 monthly to maintain the place. The building and land given free by MCA and they do get donation from the Government yearly about RM2 million. They still claim not enough money to run the organisation and demands from sponsors RM60,000 monthly.
AIDs organisation used to get millions from the Government and sponsors. Donation and items sold generates around RM100,000 monthly. But the cost to run the whole show cost only RM20,000 a month. Again money went into buying properties overseas and first class travel.
A gets donation of CASH RM48,000 monthly. Sponsored food items worth around RM100,000. Sponsored other items worth around RM50,000. They feed around 100 poor and homeless twice a week. They also provide household items sponsored and donated by the public. The cost for feeding the poor and homeless is only RM1 per person since every item, labour and rental are free. RM1 is for gas and water.
B gets donation of RM70 per day to feel 150 homeless, poor and off budget foreigners. The actual figure is only 70 people. Again everything is free so the cost is only RM1 per person. During the fasting month RM500 per day has been sponsored by a donor on top of the existing RM70 per day collected in advance. Other organisation come to the kitchen to cook and provide food for the so-called 150 people on Saturdays and Sundays. Rental, utilities and food are sponsored so whatever CASH donated goes into Sendiri Berhad.
Welfare gets money from Government but only 1/16 of it goes to the needy. People working in welfare walk around in clothing, make-up, shoes, handbag and jewelry worth by the thousand. I have been to a welfare officer’s home worth RM1.5 million.
Zakat gets money from the Public. Again money that goes to the needy is only 1/16. You and I know who takes the rest.
Today if you want to be rich just start a charity project or be a politician.

Pada 15/5/2016 Ahad jam lebih kurang 5.45 petang semasa saya keluar dari Aman Central kemudian saya terus membawa kereta saya memasuki lorong tengah di lampu isyarat di hadapan Aman Central tersebut. Datang sebuah kereta jenis Toyota Harrier berwarna hitam yang di pandu oleh lelaki melayu berumur 20-An dan di dalam kereta tersebut juga terdapat 2 lelaki melayu berusia 20-An dan 50-An. Pemandu tersebut telah membuat hon panjang dan berada di sebelah kiri kereta saya. Sewaktu itu,lampu isyarat berwarna merah. Kemudian pemandu kereta tersebut telah menurunkan tingkap keretanya dan berkata 'Kenapa,kenapa..Hang tak kenal lagi aku siapa' berulang kali kepada saya dan meminta saya turun dari kenderaan saya. Tetapi saya enggan turun. Tiba tiba lelaki 50-An dari kereta tersebut telah turun dari keretanya dan membuka pintu kereta saya dan menarik kunci kereta saya. Lelaki 50-An telah menumbuk saya di bahagian mulut saya. Akibat dari itu, mulut saya mengalami luka. Kemudian lelaki 50-An tersebut telah menarik tangan saya untuk keluar dari kereta dan apabila saya keluar dari kereta saya telah menumbuk lelaki 50-An tersebut. Datang pula (2) lelaki 20-An dari kereta tersebut dan mereka bertiga memukul saya. Teman wanita saya telah keluar dari kereta saya dan cuba meleraikan pergaduhan di antara kami. Tetapi teman wanita saya juga telah di tarik dan di tumbuk di bahagian dada,tangan kanan dan kiri. Datang orang ramai untuk meleraikan pergaduhan tersebut. Kemudian kereta tersebut terus beredar dari tempat kejadian. Saya telah membawa teman wanita saya ke KMC Alor Star Kedah kerana telah mengalami sesak nafas yang sangat teruk. Selepas beberapa hari dari hari kejadian, barulah saya mendapat tahu dari rakan ayah saya yang bekerja di Wisma Negeri Kedah yang lelaki berusia 50-an tersebut adalah Dato Azmi Che Husain Timbalan speaker Negeri Kedah. Tujuan saya kongsikan perkara ini adalah untuk beliau tampil memberi keterangan kepada pihak polis agar kes ini dapat diselesaikan secepat mungkin. Moreover, this situation has led to attempts to keep up with the competition, even if it demanded reduced safety and health standards.Research has discovered that farmers who raise shrimp in Vietnam freeze it before it is exported to the United States, but in water that is not safe for consumption.The microbiologist Mansour Samadpour, specialized in investigating water used for shellfish farming, claims that the water they use actually support the development of diseases and bacteria.Samadpour states that: “Those conditions — ice made from dirty water, animals near the farms, pigs — are unacceptable.”Yet, this is not the only food which is raised on low health regulation in Asia. Namely, the investigation has found a farm of tilapia in Yangjiang, China, uses feces from geese and pigs to feed their fish.Michael Doyle, director of the University of Georgia’s Center for Food Safety, claims that this causes the growth of numerous bacterial disease. He says that:“The manure the Chinese use to feed fish is frequently contaminated with microbes like salmonella.”We are all aware of the fact that farmed seafood is much worse that the wild-caught one, as the farmed shellfish and fish are loaded with dangerous antibiotics.Yet, a study by Consumer Report gave another reason to consume farmed seafood only, as they found that farmed shrimp has higher levels of dangerous bacteria along with antibiotics, giving us a new reason to avoid farmed seafood.Farmed seafood is extremely high with bacteria and antibiotics, which can be understood if you consider the condition in which it is produced.Despite all this, these animals are also crammed into tight spaces during their lifetime, which also supports the spread of disease throughout them.One study, conducted on 342 frozen shrimp samples, found that 60% of them have either vibrio, listeria, salmonella, or E.coli. Moreover, researchers also discovered traces of sulfa antibiotics, oxytetracycline, and enrofloxacin in them.Therefore, 94% of all imported shrimp sold in the U.S. originates from Asia, from countries like Vietnam, India, Thailand, or Indonesia. Yet, the farming conditions in these countries are extremely low and result in disease spread, and overuse of antibiotics.Consumer Report also conducted a study which showed that raw, wild-caught shrimp from America contains the lowest amounts of bacteria of all examined samples.Therefore, it is highly advisable that you avoid these kinds of fish, and consume local and wild-caught shellfish and fish, as even if it is cheaper, imported farmed seafood is extremely harmful as it is loaded with antibiotic residue and bacteria which endanger your health to a great extent.Sources and References:
